  • September 2015: Amazon leases four Boeing 767 freighters in an underused cargo airport in Ohio under the code name Project Aerosmith.
  • March 2016: Amazon acquires options to buy up to 19.9% of Air Transport International’s stock and began scheduled operations with 20 Boeing 767 aircraft.
  • January 2017: Amazon announces that Amazon Air would make Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky International Airport (CVG) its principal hub. There will be a 3M square feet sort center and a parking space for 100+ cargo aircraft.
  • December 2017: Prime Air rebrands to Amazon Air. Note that now Amazon Prime Air refers to the 30-minute delivery drone program.
  • December 2018: Amazon Air leases ten additional 767s, increasing the fleet to 50 aircraft.
