The color green

Researchers at Environmental Science and Technology found that looking at the color green is calming and helps people feel less stressed.

Fourteen subjects did three moderate-intensity, 5-minute-long cycling exercises while watching video footage of a rural cycling course. The footage was edited to be shown three ways: natural green, grayscale, and red.

The lowest levels of mood disturbance and physical exertion were recorded during the green footage. Feelings of anger were highest during the red footage.

Surrounding yourself with the color green at home and work may help promote physical and mental wellbeing.
