Structure your writing

Amazon writes different types of documents, but all require the author (you) to tell a story. Putting structure to your writing helps readers understand your idea so they can share your vision.

  1. Before you write: Start with an outline. Choose your audience. Consider your desired outcome.

  2. Bottom line up front: Start by hooking your reader with a purpose statement. In a few sentences, tell them what to expect from your document.

  3. Explain why, what, and how of your idea: Why is this important, what are your insights, how will we be successful?

  4. Tell a story: Create a logical narrative flow. Try using a framework like the SCQA (Situation, Complication, Question, and Answer).
