Who Americans spend their time with, by age

According to American Time Use surveys conducted between 2009 and 2019, time spent alone ranks high throughout life and steadily increases with age.

Time spent with family and with coworkers have an inverse relationship; around age 20, family time is replaced by coworker time until retirement age.

Basically time with co-workers is replaced by time alone when people stop working. Time with family stays constant starting at 30ish.

What about friends? That’s the missing element here. Theoretically, time with co-workers should be replaced by time with friends. Is the real story here that Americans have no/few friends?!
