Please note that NASDAQ published a paper based on company filings in 2021. The rankings are what you have but the spending is much higher for some

Would be interesting to see this figure as a % of Operating Income, to understand the quantum of investment. This will show long term thinking - Who is re-investing current profits for better future, basically ...

How are you measuring investment in R&D? Many tech companies expense all R&D in the year it occurred--as opposed to treating R&D like assets that will provide value to the company over time. Standard GAAP balance sheets are not a good way to understand what a tech company is actually investing in greenfield research.
