Staving off climate catastrophe
“To stave off a climate catastrophe, our goal must be to prevent any additional greenhouse gas accumulation, drive CO2e* back under 430 parts per million, and keep it there.”
- John Doerr, a venture capitalist at Kleiner Perkins (who backed Jeff Bezos and Amazon in 1996)
*CO2e, or carbon dioxide equivalent, is a standard unit for measuring carbon footprints. It expresses the impact of each greenhouse gas (e.g., carbon dioxide, methane, nitrous oxide, ozone) in terms of the amount of CO2 that would create the same amount of warming. That way, a carbon footprint consisting of lots of different greenhouse gasses can be articulated as a single number.

Do we have clarity on how the source has the concentration data for the past 800,072 years? Also would be interesting to understand where this data was stored over the years and how it migrated from stone to the cloud.
