Spending in mobile apps hit a record $111 billion globally in 2020 - that’s a 30% year-over-year increase. This purchasing includes recurring subscriptions and premium apps (i.e., paid) as well as in-app purchases for both Apple’s App Store and Google Play.

Games represented the majority of spending (66% for iOS and 83% for Google Play). Honor of Kings (AKA Arena of Valor in the international version) was the iOS game that generated the most revenue, while Coin Master (which involves building villages and attacking others) was the highest-grossing game on Google’s platform.
