Generating energy at work
“I teach leadership classes at Amazon for our most senior executives… I often get questions about ‘work-life balance.’ I think it’s misleading… implying there’s a strict trade-off. Instead, I like the term ‘work-life harmony’ as it’s a flywheel, not a balance.
Everybody knows people who fall into one of two camps. Some people come into the meeting and add energy to the meeting. Other people come into the meeting, and the whole meeting just deflates. Those people drain energy from the meeting.
You have to decide which of those kinds of people you are going to be.”
