Significant cyber-attacks by country
Cyber security is a major concern for governments and large companies due to the serious damage cyber-attacks can cause in a matter of seconds.
‘Significant’ cyber-attacks, defined as cyber breaches of government agencies or defense/high-tech companies that cause losses equating to over $1 million, vary in frequency across countries.
According to data collected by the Center for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS) between 2006 and 2020, the United States had more than triple the number of significant cyber-attacks than any other country with a high number of attacks. In 2018 alone the US experienced 30 significant attacks.
