Smart Home Device Privacy (U.S.)

The convenience of living with smart devices continues to surpass people’s concerns about their privacy. Americans now own 290 million smartphones and 90 million smart speakers. While it’s possible these devices could be listening to us at all times, 66.7% of people polled aren’t troubled about it (n = 1,091 U.S. residents).

Age bracket, locale, and gender impact how people feel about their smart devices listening in.

Age. Millennials and Gen Z are less concerned than Baby Boomers. Gen X is evenly spread.

Locale. People living in tech-dominant areas are less concerned than people in lower-tech areas by 6-10%.

Gender. Women are more concerned than men by 7%.
