Circulated: August 7, 2019
Abraham Maslow was a physiologist who studied positive human qualities and the lives of exemplary people. In 1954, he created the Hierarchy of Human Needs. In this theory, higher needs in the hierarchy begin to emerge when people feel they have sufficiently satisfied the previous need.
Self-actualization: fulfillment*, talent, purpose
Esteem: prestige, respect by others, achievement
Love/belonging: friendship, family, sexual intimacy
Safety: security of the body, of property, of employment
Physiology: food, water, sleep, reproduction
* Amazonians, not THAT kind of fulfillment!
