The Pomodoro Technique

Focused and intentional work sessions help us accomplish our highest priority tasks more efficiently. The Pomodoro Technique is a time management method to optimize your work session.

Step I− Choose a task you'd like to get done, like drafting a launch announcement of a new feature or writing an email of appreciation to a coworker.

Step II − Set a timer for 25 minutes. Remove distractions by turning off your notifications, minimizing background noise, and closing your door.

Step III − Work on the task, undistracted, until the timer goes off.

Step IV − When the timer rings, congratulate yourself on uninterrupted time spent working!

Step V − Take a short break, around five minutes or so. Give your dog scratches, meditate, or grab a cup of tea.

Bonus: It is named the Pomodoro Technique because the creator originally used a kitchen timer shaped like a tomato.
