Analytics Maturity

  1. Descriptive analytics: the foundation of analytics; it asks “what happened?”
    ex. “How many X did I sell today?

  2. Diagnostic analytics: draws insight from past data to inform the present.
    ex. “Did I sell more or less X on a certain day of the week?

  3. Predictive: analyzes predictive models, and potential outcomes to prepare for the future.
    ex. “What am I going to sell next week?

  4. Prescriptive: synthesizes a plan of action or next step using previous analytics.
    ex. “How can I sell the most X?
