Try Before You Buy
Circulated: February 27, 2020
Clothing services such as Stitch Fix and Trunk Club (acquired by Nordstrom in 2014) operate a try-and-buy model, allowing customers to try on clothing in the convenience of their own home and return the items they don’t want. 8% of customers report currently using a try-and-buy service and 31% say they are at least somewhat likely to try one in the next year (which increases to 51% for customers ages 18–35).
In June 2017, Amazon announced a try-and-buy program exclusive to Prime members called Prime Wardrobe. Customers select up to eight eligible items to try on at home, return what they don’t want within seven days, and only get charged for items they keep.
